Jambo Team Explores the Wonders of Ngorongoro
Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to take a moment to look around. On December 14th, the entire Jambo team traded our screens for the savanna, embarking on an unforgettable journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
"Standing on the rim of the crater, looking down into that vast green expanse, reminded us that while technology connects us digitally, nature connects us spiritually. It was the reset we didn't know we needed."
The Journey to the Crater Located just a few hours from our Arusha headquarters, the drive itself was part of the magic. Our convoy departed early in the morning, moving through the mist that still clung to the local coffee plantations. As we ascended the highlands, the air grew cooler and the anticipation palpable. When we finally reached the crater rim, the clouds parted as if on cue. Suddenly, the massive caldera floor was revealed 600 meters below us—a self-contained ecosystem that looked like a lost world. Team Bonding This wasn't just a sightseeing trip; it was about the people in the cruisers. Stripped of our laptops and reliable Wi-Fi signals, we connected in the old-fashioned way. We shared stories, laughed over bumpy roads, and enjoyed a picnic lunch surrounded by nature's giants. It strengthened our bonds in a way that no Zoom call or Slack message ever could. We returned to Arusha with dusty boots but clear minds. The Ngorongoro expedition was the perfect way to close out the year, leaving us refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges of 2024 together. Did You Know? Lions are the ultimate experts in "Work Life Balance." While the Jambo Team works hard year-round, the lions in the crater sleep for up to 20 hours a day! Zebras and Wildebeests often graze together because they make a perfect team. Zebras have better eyesight, while Wildebeests have a better sense of smell. By sticking together, they keep each other safe just like a good engineering and product team! We tried to ask them for productivity tips during the trip, but they were too busy napping to comment. Maybe next year! Why We Explore At Jambo, we believe that the best ideas don't always happen in front of a screen. They happen when we step outside, breathe fresh air, and connect as human beings. This trip reinforced our culture of curiosity and collaboration. We are excited to tackle the challenges of the new year, knowing that we have a team that supports each other both in the office and out in the wild.
